scrolling through the song library yesterday, on my way to the polling station, trying to decide between reelecting newsom and casting the city's lot with reform candidates grasshopper alec kaplan the vegan taxi driver or chicken john, this tv on the radio track - or at the very least its title, "young liars," and perhaps it's bleak & blackly humored atmosphere - seemed imbued with an extra layer of irony. ah, politics. is it too late to take garret keizer up on his suggestion for a general strike?
tv on the radio - young liars (live acoustic)
this version's from an in-studio performance (i can't recall the specific radio station at which this was recorded; perhaps someone out there can illuminate it for us), a departure from the layered noise of their albums, the focus instead shifting to tunde adebimpe's vocals and some of the lovely images - "my heart's still a marble in an empty jelly jar" - hidden within the stream of lyrics.

That article in Harper's (on general strike) was one of the most inspirational things I've read in a long time.
Hope you don't mind the necropost. =P
