heard recently that kathleen edwards, whose emotive & slightly raspy, old-country sounding voice and plainspoken, irreverent lyrics please me no end - especially the wickedly funny "westby," which tells, concisely, the story of a roadside dalliance between a young woman and an older, married man - will release her third album, asking for flowers, in march. and there was much rejoicing. anyone's guess loves a woman with a sense of humor.
you can find several mp3s up for download on her website to hold you over till the march, but i've also posted a few of my personal favorites below, including the above-mentioned "westby":
"if you weren't so old i would probably keep you/if you weren't so old i'd tell my friends/but i don't think your wife would like my friends"
kathleen edwards - westby (failer)
kathleen edwards - titled untitled (building 55 ep)
kathleen edwards - back to me (back to me)
you can pick up a copy of either of kathleen edwards's previous two albums here. and keep your eyes peeled for news of the newest album.
