she is so beautiful, she is so blonde

elliott kozel, the guitarist and singer of the madison, wi band sleeping in the aviary, spent four years writing and recording the intimate & low-fi album she is so beautiful, she is so blonde, released recently on science of sound. (he's not a slow worker, by the bye; it's a side project, an alternative creative outlet.) most of the music on the disc sounds darker than the title might initially imply, and though some of the tracks are spare acoustic ballads (such as "played your guitar" below), there are also hazy experimental songs, notable for the few small strokes employed to create the sound.

"days," the loose opening track, is, to these ears, the clear standout, opening up to something full and exuberant and almost sweet. have a listen:

she is so beautiful, she is so blonde - days
she is so beautiful, she is so blonde - played your guitar
