connecticut's the alternate routes released, in late december, an acoustic reinterpretation of their 2007 album good and reckless and true, an experiment that yielded some interesting results. most particularly in the transformation of the song "endless conversation" from a fairly nondescript example of light rockery into a folk song that, if still a bit long, echoes harry nilsson's classic "everybody's talkin'" in cadence and inflection. not to mention to the surface overlap in subject matter.
have a listen and see what i mean:
the alternate routes - endless conversation (acoustic)
harry nilsson - everybody's talkin'
the alternate routes acoustic album is limited edition and only available at the band's live shows, which means that, at least for the moment, you're out of luck as there aren't any tour dates currently scheduled. check in here, though, for updates.
