some fine music found me this month through one form or another and it's a pleasure for me to share some it now with you.
court lajoie - country road
folkster court lajoie hails from southern ontario and just released a brand new album called mindshift, off of which comes the lovely "country road" above, and that is available to download as a pay what you want over here. mindshift features a suite of environmentally & socially engaged songs -- any number of which would be terrific models for entries into our climate song challange. (only a month longer to go! enter here! loads of prizes!)
kid dakota - stars
kid dakota is a rock and roll duo from minneapolis and "stars," which plays the crescendo game to good effect, is off their new album a winner's shadow. you can hear them play it live on 13 may at the bottom of the hill. other tour dates here.
fear of music - a blueprint
manchester, england lads fear of music passed along this swell acoustic guitar & piano ballad, which would appear to be something of a change of pace for band (they cite muse, radiohead and the pixies as influences). you can listen to their more rock heavy tracks over at the band's myspace.
panic attract - picket line
panic attract is the stage name of londoner tim garret, who envelops acoustic songs in blankets of electronic sounds. "picket line" will be released in august as part of a split 7" & you can, as always, discover more at panic attract's myspace page.
