r.e.m.'s new album, accelerate - hailed as a return to form by some - came out earlier this month and the band will hit the road in may for a major, international tour. (including a stopover in berkeley, at the greek, on 31 may.) seems only fitting then that we dedicate a sunday night live spot to the boys from athens, ga and, in doing so, give you all a brief taste of what you might expect from them this summer.
these handful of songs - about half of the show entire - come from r.e.m.'s black session in paris back in 2001 and should confirm for any unbelievers yet "what's the frequency, kenneth?" as one of the better songs among the band's rather formidable catalogue.
r.e.m. - what's the frequency kenneth? (live)
r.e.m. - the great beyond (live)
r.e.m. - electrolite (live)
r.e.m. - man on the moon (live)
r.e.m. - so. central rain (live)
r.e.m. - the one i love (live)
again, you can find details on r.e.m.'s current tour on this page. or listen to a few of the new songs from accelerate here. also, be sure to check out the band's take away shows over at la blogotheque.
