sunday night live :: pearl jam

the sunday night live series continues this week with all-time a.g. favorite pearl jam.

p.j. has recorded and released hundreds of their live shows in the past ten or so years, pricing each one similar to if not less than their studio albums, in possibly one of the best and most fan-friendly moves imaginable. not only did it kill the bootleg market (which we were buying anyway, at three times the cost; at least this way the money goes to the band), but the quality of these recordings are obviously much better, and the volume & diversity of shows enough to sate any fan.

tonight's examples have been culled from a concert nearly two years ago now in barcelona, spain. not only does the band sound great, but the set list is studded, the audience lively - love how they carry the first verse and chorus of "betterman" & incite the improv at the outset of "small town" - the stage banter genial and charming. (ed seems pretty embarrassed over the state of his spanish.) one last note, playing the role of chris cornell on "hungerstrike" is andy stockdale from wolfmother.
