plants and animals, a trio of canadians whose first full length album, parc avenue, debuted earlier this spring, sound a bit like what you might expect from a fast-rising musical act out of montreal, only better. seriously. epic orchestration and rootsy songwriting, tight instrumentation, swells and surges and a puckish playfulness - basically we love it. and you will too.
(note: no feral or stuffed animals were harmed during the shooting of the publicity photo at right.) (the band does seem to play off of the motifs of trapper & fur trader traditions, though the wind farm decoration on their myspace page would seem, when considering the cultivated collective mythology, to cut against type.) (you're right, let's not think too deeply about or read too much into any of that; after all, it's saturday morning. our mistake.)
have a listen to two songs from parc avenue, which are recommended for those of you who enjoy good music, and let us know what you think:
plants and animals - faerie dance
plants and animals - bye bye bye
