the roadside graves - ruby
really enjoying this rambling & ramshackle song from an upcoming demo ep by the roadside graves. reminds us of a dusty saloon, sawdust on the floor and boots stamping and upright piano in the corner. of course it's a more polished song than that image might suggest, and the musical genres evident within the song and the ep as a whole are ranging, but the spirit of "ruby" seems of a piece with the vein of new rebel folk & country that could count, among others, the felice brothers, the avett brothers, and, perhaps to a slightly lesser degree, the two gallants as practitioners. which is more or less another way of saying this suits us just fine.
