simply because we haven't done a covers post in some time, and because the clair and cher songs have been repeating 'round here recently, and because the new frontiers' version of gillian welch's excellent "look at miss ohio" turned up in our box the other day, we decided that these six recordings, all of which we enjoy - if for distinct reasons - and think you will too, should be hoarded no longer.
clair - outta me (bikini kills)
cher - lay baby lay (bob dylan)
angel snow - meet me in the morning (bob dylan)
the new frontiers - look at miss ohio (gillian welch)
masonic - runaway (del shannon)
yoav - where is my mind? (pixies)
the new frontiers, by the way, play 12 galaxies in the mission this saturday night, 2 august, with the honorary title. more info.

Great post. Love the New Frontiers' cover (the original is a favorite of mine).
The Yoav cover is pretty interesting - I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm pretty sure I like it.
There have been a lot of bad Dylan covers over the years, but I have to say that the Cher cover might be the worst ever.
Even the warmth of vinyl isn't enough to make it throught one listen of Cher's cover. Seriously jaw dropping experience and not in a good way.
Strangerjay: Esp since the original wordss are lay *lady* lay. She can't even get that right. I really like the background loops in the Yoav cover.
