we were hoping to have bon iver's set from the outside lands festival last weekend to share with you all tonight, but jesus wasn't magic enough to deliver. instead we'll have to settle for something a touch older, and shorter, though no less impressive: the band's five-song show from sxsw back in march and aired on npr.
interesting to hear how "the wolves," which has been a participatory event from the beginning, has grown into now perhaps the most enchanting & purely fun moment of a bon iver show. the sxsw audience joins in on the recording below, and it works, but at outside lands the level of gleeful participation, with vernon's goading, and the outdoor setting produced something stunning. (there may be a small, mostly unconscious bias at work in that last sentence. so shoot us.)
