gypsy punkers o'death have a new album - broken hymns, limbs and skin - out later this month on kemado records, and the first single, "lowtide", landed in our inbox earlier today. these folks and their amped up, funky americana jams are simply too good and too much fun to miss out on. so have a listen to "lowtide" then definitely check here or here or here for more.
o'death - lowtide
o'death play the bottom of the hill on 21 november, and it's guaranteed to be an insanely good & sweaty time.

the first single from hope for the hopeless, the forthcoming album from brett dennen (out 21 october), has recently begun making the rounds. "make you crazy" was written, according to a press release, in response to the current state of the state of things, but while its refrain - which we think you'll probably be able to guess without aid of transcription - is identifiably weary and fed up and heartsick, the song itself lacks the specifics & verve to register as effective protest. it's pretty catchy, though, and upbeat melding of folk and rock and afro beats. have a listen:
brett dennen - make you crazy
brett dennen will be at rasputin in berkeley on 21 october, the day the record debuts, and then plays the independent on 6 november, by which time we'll have a new president-elect here in the u.s., which prospect - if things break as we hope/they must - gives us some measure of comfort.
